Overview
refer.nz is an information site. We do not run user accounts, store passwords, take payment, or ask visitors to fill in forms in order to view content.
What we collect
- Analytics data via Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — page views, referrers, approximate location (country / region), browser and device information. This is aggregated usage data, not a personal profile.
- Server logs — basic request logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp) generated by our hosting provider.
We do not collect names, addresses, payment details, or any account information, because the site does not have accounts or payment.
Cookies and similar technologies
GA4 may set cookies or use similar technologies in your browser. Data collected by GA4 is processed by Google, which may store and process that data on servers outside of New Zealand.
You can opt out of GA4 by:
- using your browser’s “Do Not Track” or privacy settings,
- installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on,
- using a browser extension that blocks third-party trackers, or
- using private / incognito mode.
Outbound links
When you click an outbound referral link to a provider, the provider’s own site applies. We have no control over how providers collect or use your information after you leave refer.nz. Read the destination provider’s privacy policy.
Sharing your data
We do not sell or share analytics data with anyone other than the providers listed above (currently Google Analytics) for the purpose of running this site.
Your rights under the New Zealand Privacy Act
You have the right to ask what information we hold about you and to request correction. Because we do not run accounts, we typically only have aggregated analytics data and cannot link a request to a specific person. Contact us via the email address in the site footer for any privacy question.
